Our Team
Matt
Senior Financial Planner
I started working with Ed & Ann’s team while studying for my Bachelor of Business Administration at Wilfrid Laurier University, where I quickly saw how their client-centric approach to genuine, in-depth financial planning was on a much higher level than most of the industry.
With Ed as a mentor, I was exposed to the finances of hundreds of households as I learned effective planning strategies, deepened my tax knowledge, and ultimately earned my Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in May 2024.
I specialize in creating comprehensive, written plans that focus on tax efficiency and creative wealth-building strategies, all designed around what is most important to you. My style involves a lot of active listening and clear, detailed explanations so you understand how each decision affects your long-term goals.
I work a lot with:
- The Smith Manoeuvre and other leveraged investing strategies
- Corporate and personal income tax strategies
- Tax-efficient retirement income and melt-down strategies
- 8-year GIS optimization strategies
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my German Shepherd, Willow, collecting insightful quotes, and I am a big movie buff.

I’m a Financial Planner and Senior Manager with over 30 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry. Throughout my career, I’ve focused on putting clients first—helping individuals and families navigate their financial journeys with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
My expertise includes comprehensive financial planning, retirement income strategies, and tax-efficient wealth management. I’ve had the privilege of holding leadership roles at TD Asset Management, Royal Bank of Canada, and Barclays Bank of Zambia, where I led teams and developed innovative financial solutions tailored to diverse client needs.
I hold a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation, an insurance certification, and an MBA in Finance and Corporate Governance. I’ve also completed credentials in securities, financial advice, and mortgage brokerage—tools that allow me to offer well-rounded, personalized guidance.
Beyond my professional work, I’m passionate about mentoring. I’ve supported new immigrants through YMCA Immigration Services and continue to guide emerging financial professionals across the organizations I’ve worked with. For me, financial planning is not just about numbers—it’s about empowering people to make informed decisions and build the future they envision.
Ravin
Operations Manager
After completing my Business Management studies at Humber College, I joined Oakland Enterprises Ltd. in February 2014. Over the years, I honed my skills and experience dealing with the CRA under the tutelage of Ann Hetram & Ed Rempel.
I lead our Admin Department coordinate the tax process and continue to handle the CRA queries for our tax clients. I’ve been handling CRA queries on our clients’ behalf for the last 9 years, with a 100% success rate. In 2025, I took over the tax process from Ann, my mentor.
Helping others is something I am passionate about. Our company allows me to do just that. Over the years, I have connected with many of our clients over the phone and in person. I cherish this because I get the opportunity to get to know our clients better and help them however I can. To me, a little kindness goes a long way. I’m at my happiest when I’m able to bring joy to someone else or make their lives easier.
Outside of my professional life, my family and friends matter to me most. I enjoy a heavy gym session, watching a good movie or series, and spending time with those who are important to me.
Andrew
Financial Planner
Since 2008, I have worked across the Canadian banking and Wealth Management industry, serving clients from personal and commercial banking to private wealth. I hold the CFP® and PFP® designations and a Philosophy degree from the University of Toronto—an education that sharpened my instinct to ask the right questions.
I focus on educating clients and building clear, practical roadmaps that align values with decisions across holistic financial and retirement planning, tax strategy, cash flow and investment management. I am driven to make sophisticated advice accessible so everyday Canadians can translate long-term goals into confident, actionable plans.
Drawing on more than 15 years in financial advice and life experience, I provide white-glove service to our clients nationwide, guiding them through each stage of life with care and clarity.
Joining Ed and the team at Oakland Enterprises was a natural fit—turning unconventional wisdom into proven strategies and personalized plans that lead clients through life’s complexities.
Outside the office I enjoy reading, watching movies, keeping active playing sports, travelling, riding motorcycles, DJing, and—most of all—spending time with loved ones.

Russel
Financial Planner
I joined Ed and The Oakland team as a Financial Planner in February 2024. What drew me to join Oakland was the freedom to provide unbiased advice and create truly unique financial plans for our clients. Everyone’s situation is unique, and I believe their financial plans should reflect that individuality.
My career began in 2012, shortly after earning my bachelor’s degree in Economics at McMaster University. Before joining the financial gurus at Oakland, I worked in several positions in the banking and investment management industry. I began as a Financial Advisor at CIBC and then transitioned on to a Financial Planner role at BMO where I was planning for Canadians all over Canada in a virtual capacity. Most recently, I worked as a Senior Investment Analyst at Manulife Investment Management as a part of a team that oversaw over 1 trillion dollars in assets under management globally.
I have always loved working with numbers, a trait influenced early on by my father, who was an Economist. This early influence inspired me to pursue a degree in Economics and eventually earn the CFA charter in 2021 to further enhance my knowledge of markets and investing. I am currently working on obtaining the CFP designation.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife, family, and friends. I love staying active, whether playing basketball and soccer or spending time outdoors exploring nature. I also like to travel to unique countries; my latest adventure was exploring the rich history and beauty of Uzbekistan.

Loreen
Planning Support
I have been part of the team at Oakland Enterprises since Jan 2022. I came to the company with no direct experience with Financial Planning or tax filing, but I had an open mind and a willingness to learn and was given everything I needed to succeed.
Trained as a Registered Massage Therapist, with over 25 years in the industry, I have developed the keen ability to listen and understand personal needs. In my role on the Admin Team this enables me to listen and direct clients to the appropriate team member to address concerns. I strive to be efficient and accurate when it comes to dealing with our clients financial planning tasks and strategies.
Outside of the office I enjoy spending quality time with my family & friends. The family dog keeps me on my toes. I enjoy being outdoors whether for long walks, doing yard work or simply soaking up some sun. I have a passion for helping others and I find a true benefit is giving without expectations.
