Journey to Conquer Cancer Walk for Princess Margaret Research in Honour of Ann Hetram

This is a personal post and my first post with a request.

My wife, life partner and business partner, Ann Hetram, passed away unexpectedly from cancer 2 months ago. She received excellent care at Princess Margaret Hospital, which is the best cancer hospital in Canada.

In her honour, I am co-captain of a team in the Journey to Conquer Cancer walk to support research at Princess Margaret Hospital. My team is the Harbour Square Team for my condo building. The walk is on Sunday, June 15 at 9 AM. It starts at the University of Toronto, Varsity Stadium, 299 Bloor Street West, Toronto.

Donations support breakthrough research, supporting over 1,600 researchers and scientists working on innovative projects, such as early detection methods, personalized cancer treatments, and immunotherapy advancements.

Ann’s cancer was classified as an “unknown tumor”. She received a personalized cancer treatment including immunotherapy. I am hopeful that research will find effective treatments for unknown tumors like Ann’s in the future.

You can support me and this cancer research in honour of Ann in several ways:

1.   Join our team and join the 5 km. walk on June 15 at 9 AM. It’s a chance to meet me or talk with me in person. Ask your friends or family to support us. A $45 fee and $80 donation for research gets you a T-shirt that many of our team members will be wearing. It is an uplifting walk together as a group with the walk passing by the hospital and the doctors coming out to wave to us.

2.   Join our team remotely. Be a team member and ask your friends or family to support us. No need to do the walk. If you don’t live near Toronto, you can still join our team.

3.   Donate to support our team and the cancer research. I appreciate every donation.

A great way to honour Ann is to support the hospital that cared for her and their research to save the lives of other people with rare cancers like the one that took Ann from us.
